Norddesign 2018
Linköping University is proud to invite participation in the 2018 Norddesign conference august 14-17. The conference will take place at Linköping University and is organized by the Division of Machine Design at the Department of Management and Engineering in collaboration with the Design Society and The Product Development Academy in Sweden. Norddesign is a bi-annual Nordic conference, covering design, design engineering and design education in its full width. Topics include engineering, manufacturing, aesthetics, emotions, ergonomics, sustainability, and business. Norddesign is known for its friendly and informal atmosphere.
Linköping University has a lively academic design community, ranging from design and product development, to service design, interaction design, and arts and crafts.
Linköping has an airport with an excellent connection to Amsterdam. By train, it is 2h 20 from Stockholm Arlanda, 1h 30 from Stockholm Skavsta, and 3h 20 from Copenhagen airport,

The Journal of Design Research is publishing a special issue with papers presented at Norddesign 2018. The call for papers is open for papers which: where presented at Norddesign 2018, fit within the theme Digitalization & Design and have been reworked for journal publication.

Call for papers
The main theme of the 2018 conference is ‘design in the era of digitalization’, which covers a wide range of potential topics, ranging from the use of big data in the early phases of the design process, to the use of virtual reality in the design process, and from the use of physical computing in design, to design automation. Topics include, but are not limited to:
• Big data in design
• Physical computing prototypes
• Design of cyber-physical systems
• Design automation
• Distributed design teams
Submissions
We aim to make the publication of your paper as easy and free from errors as possible. In the first step, you submit you abstract with maximum of 500 words via EasyChair (button below). If accepted, you will be notified on 21 January 2018. Next, you submit your full paper for peer reviewing (deadline 31 March 2018). Please leave out names and affiliations of the authors as well as the contact details in this version. You will be notified of acceptance of your full paper and any changes required by the reviewers on or shortly after 29 April 2018.
When submitting your final paper and paper summary (deadline 25 May 2018) we will ask you to provide a full paper version (for publication) along with a separate paper summary (for publication in print) via EasyChair. This version will address and changes required by the reviewers and will include author names and affiliations.

PROCEEDINGS
The papers for Norddesign2018 will undergo a full peer review. They will be published in the conference proceedings, in collaboration with the Design Society. The papers will also be indexed in Scopus.
SVID’s Swedish Design Research Journal is offering to publish the best design paper of the conference.
Inderscience’s Journal of Design Research will publish a special issue based on selected papers fitting within the theme of ‘design in the era of digitalization’.
